The 42 hectares of vines of Château Faugères, the actual flagship of Vignobles Silvio Denz, are located east of the pretty town of St. Emilion. The barren soils are dominated by limestone, and are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming. The cellar, created by the Swiss star architect Mario Botta, quickly became known and famous as the "cathedral of wine". Not only does it look good, but the conditions for winemaking are also ideal. Thanks to the consistent use of gravity, pumps are no longer needed. Temperature-controlled wooden vats are available for fermentation, and the wine is aged in French barriques. Michel Rolland has been advising the oenologists at Château Faugères since 1992, ensuring that this Grand Cru Classé has a consistently high and unique quality.
