In general, the Château Péby Faugères can be described as follows: “Beautiful, dark and intense color. Strong bouquet of fruit and black truffle. Round, soft palate; lots of very fine tannins; tasty and velvety finish”.

The 7.45 hectare vineyard of Château PÉBY FAUGÈRES is located in one piece on south-southeast facing slopes with clay-limestone soil.

The terroir is comparable to that of the “Côte Sud” of Saint-Émilion. It thrives on the presence of the river and the semi-circular, gently sloping terrain, which, together with the magnificent, ancient soil and a privileged microclimate, creates a world of its own. Man is the guardian of this world, but he only intervenes to reveal its characteristics.

With the 2020 vintage, Château PÉBY FAUGÈRES has demonstrated its commitment to protecting nature by obtaining the “Agriculture biologique” and “HVE 3” labels.

Péby Faugères, the jewel of “Vignobles Silvio Denz”, was only created in 1998 in memory of the former owner Pierre-Bernard Guisez, whose nickname the vineyard bears. It includes the best Merlot plots of Faugères and extends in one piece over the old clay-limestone soil of Saint-Émilion. Château PÉBY FAUGÈRES was soon recognized as a wine in its own right and very quickly elevated to the rank of a top wine. Its 2000 vintage was described by Robert Parker as a “legend of the future” and was ranked among the 24 best Bordeaux. PÉBY FAUGÈRES 2005 was even rated 100/100 points by the “Wine Advocate”.

The wine of Château PÉBY FAUGÈRES is not only the product of a unique terroir. It is also the expression of the constant quest for perfection, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, where it benefits from the expertise of the oenologist Michel Rolland.

The vineyard has been in organic conversion since 2017. With the 2020 vintage, it successfully received AB label certification. In addition to the high quality standards that it shares with Silvio Denz's other wineries, this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé retains its rarity value. Every year, the harvest is subjected to strict selection, resulting in a select production of just 18 hectoliters per hectare. The 12,000 bottles of this 100% Merlot delicacy are never enough to meet demand.
